Cherating Beach Malaysia

CM Cherating Beach never ceases to amaze us. Even after 6 visits this place brings us relaxation. The beautiful nature (monkeys, lizards, birds), the authentic structures (soon to be renovated), the activities, the way it lies spread out past the coast with two beaches giving you the feeling of being almost alone.
But what makes it complete are the people (GO’s and GE’s). CdV Clayton has a great team working well together and who are able to help guests immediately.
On arrival we were met by many GO’s with whom we also spent a lot of nice time. Mario (sportsmgr), Julia (eGO), Clara (welcome), Adrian (reception). It was so good to be back. JJ made sure our arrival was heart-felt. And although our room wasn’t available yet, we first had lunch during which Kevin (housekeeping) arranged for it to be ready. Our room was on top floor in H-block with a view of the sea and garden and was kept very clean by housekeeping. Although, the buildings are wooden structures, the rooms are quite spacious and well equipped (minibar, coffee and thee, safe, little balcony) and the housekeeping GE’s do a great job of keeping them clean and bug free. We have slept the best since ages. Even better than at home! Thank you for the room with a great karma, Dee! This made a big impact on our stay!
Activities are well organized like archery and amazing family. We’ve been able to do some free sailing with Gede and the team. There are also lessons to be taken. Sailing is located on the other beach accessible by a little shuttle train. The zen pool is also located there. Perhaps one of the best zen pools in CM with it’s beautiful view and secluded (quiet) location.
My husband did flying trapeze. A little rusty but Elaine and the circus team are well organized and he was in very safe hands. He even joined the show, showing young seniors still remain dare-devils. Next time a bit more practice.
This time we joined a morning yoga stretch and an afternoon sound relax session with Mia. A must try for anyone. Morning yoga on the yoga deck overlooking the ocean is a bliss while the sound session helped relax. Glad to have tried it for the first time!
A lot of time is spent at the bars (main, zen and beach). Chloe and the team are such a great team. Big shout out to Indra, Anth, Charo, Ricky, Ray-Ray, Karen, Tan, Marilyn, Cleo. Whether it’s a morning coffee, an aperitief or late night drinks, they have always done their best to accommodate us.
Likewise in the restaurant. Betty, Satish (sommelier), Shin and Awie made sure we could always enjoy our food in the company of GO’s and outside on the terras. As the Rembulan is closed, the Enak is now the specialty restaurant. The food is very good, menu elaborate enough and the ambiance nice. Wine pairing by Satish for a special dinner is a great suggestion. Wine choice is good! Food at the main restaurant is also very good. Chef Rudy brings out the bite we look for when trying the Malay and Japanese corners. We focused on these but they also have Chinese, Indian, western. Italian. Although our plan b, the pizza’s are actually very tasteful.
We also made use of the spa: nail polish, head spa, facial and Malaysian massage by Edah, Yus and Datang were very well done. Thank you Iqa and Jenny for the good organization. In general, treatments are done in small houses in the inner court. Very relaxing! See you soon!
Short note on excursions: although we did not do any this time, we met Rejab who knows a lot so reach out to him for your wishes.
Also thanks to Cammy and Chad for the entertainment! The live artist lineup (Groupe Sensation and Meg (what an amazing voice!!!) with Haydn) was very good as well as GO Jovan. At apero (4:30-5:30 and 06:00-07:00). This time we had the pleasure of seeing a uniquely beautiful and fun show “Legends after Dark” starring Mario, Clayton and all the GO’s. I won’t disclose it’s content, you have to see it yourself. Standing ovation!! We learnt that a lot of rehearsing goes into the shows. So respect to IVO (choreo) who we spoke many times and always met us with a big smile and infectious positivity.
And of course we danced the night away with many GO. Dal the friendly security man who is always having a chat with everyone, put the idea in our head. So we made plans to come back soon. Even before the renovation. I think that is the biggest compliment we can give !
